Israeli
soldiers shoot at Palestinian children: a scene that takes place in a
daily basis. Yet, a TV show portraying such scene is enough to make the
Zionist entity be put on alert…

According to the Israeli
media, Naor Gilon, deputy head of the Europe Department in the Israeli
Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “reprimanded” the acting Turkish
ambassador to Israel over a TV program portraying Israeli soldiers
shooting at Palestinian children.

“We cannot stand by as
blatant incitement against Israel and its soldiers is being aired which
could lead to physical harm to Jews and Israelis,” Gilon told Jailan
Ozen during their meeting Thursday.

“The use of stereotypes
by a TV show that is viewed by children and adults alike must concern
anyone who strives for peace and coexistence among nations and
religions in the region and all over the world,” Gilon claimed.

“The soldiers who are depicted as bloodthirsty killers are the same
ones who rushed to the aid of the Turkish people in the wake of the
devastating earthquake in 1999,” he told the Turkish envoy.

The series is broadcast on the state-run TRT1 channel.

The producer of the fictional TV series “Ayrilik”, which shows Israeli
soldiers shooting innocent Palestinian children, said Thursday that he
has nothing against Israel.

On Wednesday, Israeli Foreign
Minister Avigdor Lieberman summoned the acting Turkish ambassador to
Israel to a meeting with high-ranking ministry officials. “Broadcasting
this series is a serious case of state-sponsored incitement. Such a
series, which doesn’t even have a weak connection to reality, and
which presents the Israeli soldiers as murderers of innocent children,
is unworthy of being broadcast in enemy states, let alone in a country
which had full diplomatic relations with Israel.”

Previously ties between Israel and Turkey have deteriorated somewhat
since Israel’s offensive in the Palestinian Gaza strip. Turkey barred
Israel from participating in a NATO war exercise this week and Prime
Minister Tayyip Erdogan said the move was a result of public concerns
over the Gaza war.

By Gilad Atzmon

Less than a week after Ankara cancelled an air exercise with Israel, Turkey’s state-sponsored channel TRT1 broadcast
“Ayrilik” (“Farewell”), a new prime-time TV show that depicts the true
image of Israel’s genocidal military operation in Gaza last January.

The
Israelis are not happy. “Broadcasting this series is a serious case of
state-sponsored incitement. …,” said Israel’s Foreign Minister Avigdor
Lieberman. “Such a series, which doesn’t even have a weak connection to
reality, presents the IDF’s soldiers as murderers of innocent
children….”

I
wonder whether one should remind hardliner Lieberman, who happens to be
an enthusiastic ethnic cleanser and a proud Judeo supremacist racist,
that the reality on the ground last January was ‘connected enough’ to
establish a genocidal war crime inquiry and a crime against humanity.

It
left over 1400 fatal casualties. It also left thousands more injured,
most of them children, women and elders. However, for once Lieberman
happens to read the map. The Turkish TV-show indeed depicts the IDF’s
soldiers as murderers of children, women and elders for this is what
Israeli soldiers are and this is exactly what Israel stands for
politically, symbolically, ideologically and practically.

Though
Lieberman tries to appease his Israeli crowd and may even be successful
in doing so, his chances to mount pressure on Turkish TV and government
are rather limited. By now we all happen to know Israel is all about
the establishment of a ‘Jew-only state’ in a stolen land named
Palestine.

As
it happens we tend to spend a lot of time writing and analysing the
Israeli-Palestinian conflict. But the facts on the ground are actually
very simple. Zionism is an ideology aspired by the plunder of
Palestine. Israel has put the robbery of Palestine and the Palestinians
into practice. We are talking here about a national revival project
that is taking place at the expense of another people. It is a
murderous project inherently inspired by the bible and an unethical
plundering project of ‘home coming’. It is a lethal combination of some
deadly interpretations of the Old Testament together with a non-ethical
present. The only question to be asked is how have they got away with
it? How do they continue to get away with plunder, murder, spreading
white phosphorus and piling up nuclear weapons?

  • Spin, deception and lies are the answer

A
few weeks ago, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu stood in front of the UN
waving the Wannsee Conference’s protocols suggesting that he was
holding the ‘proof for the Nazi extermination of European Jewry’. With
typical histrionics, he pleaded for the nations’ empathy. “Is this a
lie?” he cried out. Embarrassingly enough, though the document he
presented to the assembly was genuine, he was actually spinning the
usual Zionist lines.

The
Wannsee protocol refers in a rather general manner, to the deportation
to the East of the entire Jewish population from Germany and German
occupied territories. Though the document refers to ‘Final Solution’,
the very ‘solution’ it prescribed is rather different from the common
interpretation offered by the Zionist Shoa narrative. The Wannsee
protocol refers basically to a sinister plan to exhaust the deported
Jews in hard labour in roadwork.

As
much as Wannsee document is devastating, its relevance to the history
of the holocaust is rather limited for the ‘Wannsee plan’ has never
materialised into an actual operative program. It has actually nothing
to do with the historicity of Jewish extermination known as the Shoa.
It doesn’t set any plan for death camps or gas chambers whatsoever.
As
a legal document, it proves nothing but general Nazi inclinations. As a
historic document it by no means ‘proves’ the Shoa and the
extermination of the Jews, it just affirms that the Nazi regime was
committed to the idea of Judenreine (Jews Free).

However,
this fact is well established and widely accepted even by most if not
all holocaust revisionists. As much as Netanyahu insisted to boost the
Holocaust with some fresh credibility, he ended up waving a relatively
insignificant paper in front of the nations. Needless to say, he got
away with it.

However,
far more crucial is the fact that the Wannsee Protocol lines out a
program that is not that different from Lieberman’s deadly plan for the
Palestinians. In reality it is the Jewish state that murders
Palestinians en masse and starves those who survive. Moreover, it is
very interesting also to elaborate on the following questions: how is
it that the leader of the Jewish state is standing in front of the
nation and spins in broad daylight in the name of Israel and the name
of the Jewish people? What can we learn from the fact that an Israeli
leader tries to fool the entire UN assembly? How is it that as Israeli
PM manages to divert the attention so easily from his own crimes
against humanity that are taking place in the present into a relatively
insignificant historical document? In short, how does he get away with
it?

The
answer may be pretty trivial. Like in the case of the Mossad motto,
they make their wars by deception. The entire Jewish revival project is
grounded on sets of lies. The entire tale of Jewish ‘home coming’ is
nothing less than a daylight collective crime based on false argument
and lies again. Initially Zionists were deceiving their fellow Jews but
as time passed by they have been extending their tactics. For more than
a while they have been spinning us all.

The
Israelis and Zionists are born into a lie, they live their life through
a lie, they tend to believe that they can get away with lies and
deception and the sad truth must be said. As far as world leaders are
concerned, they actually do. As we know, not a single world leader
challenged Netanyahu’s spin at the UN. More disturbing is the fact that
not a single historian or intellectual tried to point out to the
Israeli PM that more than anything else, the Wannsee Protocol actually
describes his own policies at home.

Very
few World Leaders have the guts to oppose the Zionist spin operation.
Recently we have witnessed the courageous Iranian Mahmud Ahmadinejad,
Venezuela’s Hugo Chavez and Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan. This is not a
lot considering the level of colossal atrocities committed by the
Jewish state. However, it is better than nothing.

The
good news is that Humanism and Humanity is not exactly in the
possession of politicians or so called ‘world leaders’. It is actually
our property, the members of the human race, the people out there who
happen to witness the emerging evil. True Humanity and Humanism is
delivered by kindness and an aspiration for ethics and truthfulness. In
most cases it is actually artists and ordinary people who transform
Humanism into a vivid message. Our elected interventionalists, for some
reason insist on dragging us all into more and more Zionist wars in the
name of the holocaust, democracy and liberation’.

Tragically
enough, our Western leaders are still silenced or at least ‘captivated’
by Zionist lies. But this shouldn’t be a major concern anymore. The
betrayal of Western ideologies (left, right and centre), politicians
and institutions are an established fact. Succumbing to Zionist lies is
apparently just one symptom amongst too many. Not only that truth will
win, it is actually winning already. The identification of the Zionist
spin is becoming common knowledge. As the foggy cloud of the Zionist
brutality expands we all develop a growing yearning for some beams of
truth and grace. We are beginning to grasp that they make their wars by
the means of deception. They may win a few more pyrrhic battles but
they are losing the war.

Can Turkey help bridge East and West?

(AFP) It was no surprise when Erdogan played a pivotal role in the negotiations between Israel and Syria

By Dallas Darling

In the early 20th Century when Mustafa Kemal-who was given the grand title Ghazi or Fighter of the Islamic Faith, led an uprising and Turkish
national army against the Western Powers and Russia’s attempt to
dismember the Anatolia Peninsula, he probably never envisioned that
someday Turkey would help bridge East and West. Nor did he realize that
in creating the nation of Turkey, he was subverting an empire. (1)

Therefore, it was no surprise when Turkey’s Prime Minister (PM) Recep Tayyip
Erdogan of the Islamist Justice and Development Party played a pivotal
role in the negotiations between Israel and Syria over Israel’s
occupation of the Golan Heights. Neither was the disclosure of Turkish
Foreign Minister Ali Babacan’s statement that Turkey would like to
bridge the differences between the United States and Iran a major
revelation. (Note: Syrian’s president just announced that Israel will
return the Golan Heights.)

When Turkey’s PM Erdogan recently walked off the stage at the World Economic
Forum in Switzerland, he did so to protest and admonish those who
applauded Israel’s justification of its invasion of Gaza which killed
1,300 civilians. He said he was very saddened so many people had been
killed and thought it was wrong and “not very humanitarian.” In a
follow-up interview, PM Erdogan condemned the brutal Israeli invasion
and Israel’s punitive economic blockade against Gaza.

While challenging Israel to listen more intently to surrounding Arab nations,
he is also working to bring Hamas’ conditions for a permanent ceasefire
to the United Nations. Can Turkey intervene and help free Israeli
soldier Gilad Shalit and hundreds of Palestinians wrongly
imprisoned-who have no name? A plan for Turkish peace keeping forces in
and along Gaza and the Israeli border is also being considered. Mr.
Erdogan has also called on the U.S. and the world to initiate a new
round of Middle East peace talks on behalf of Palestinian Statehood.

When President Barack Obama telephoned Turkish President Abdullah Gul and PM
Erdogan, both agreed to strengthen U.S. support for Turkish-Iraqi
relations and address the Kurdish Question. At the same time, they
encouraged the newly elected president to review America’s military
policies in Afghanistan and Pakistan. Western Powers, especially the
U.S., can learn from the Turkish-Ottoman Empire and how armies and
massive rearmament programs unfortunately create empires by subverting
nations.

While visiting the U.S., Turkish PM Erdogan cautioned that “All countries are
passengers on the same ship” and “if we sink, we will all go down
together.” PM Erdogan then challenged U.S. and European leaders to turn
their attentions to other “ticking time bombs” like the unsettled
border disputes between Turkey’s neighbors Russia and Georgia and
Armenia and Azerbaijan, and the hypocrisy of America’s nuclear policies
in relation to Iran’s nuclear enrichment program.

Turkey’s PM Erdogan warned that “Nuclear weapons are being harbored in many
countries” and “taking a stand against one country and forcing them to
disarm is not an honest approach.” He challenged all nations, including
the U.S., to eradicate nuclear weapons once and for all. Back at home,
PM Erdogan has called for lifting a ban on Muslim women wearing head
scarves in universities. He also plans a future meeting with Armenian
President Serzh Sargsyan to discuss the Armenian Diaspora.

It appears the “sick man of Europe” (as Britain and Czar Nicholaus I
referred to the declining Turkish-Ottoman Empire) is today the “strong
man of Eurasia” and is becoming a vital bridge between East and West.
Due to disastrous wars in the Middle East and a tarnished human rights
record, the U.S. has currently forfeited its bridge in the 21st
Century. Russia, Turkey’s powerful neighbor to the north, also too
experienced trouble.

This power vacuum has left Turkey as being a vital link between East and
West. NATO‘s predominantly secularist and Christian forces could
improve its peace keeping operations by using more Turkish Muslim
soldiers. Since the European Union (EU) has accepted Turkey as a
potential candidate and if admitted, Islamic economic values could help
improve wasteful and fledgling Western capitalist societies.

Turkey’s proximity to Europe in the West and Russia, Iran, Iraq, and Syria in
the East, makes it an important bridge for peace and understanding. As
Turkey revaluates the impact of secular institutions on religion,
extreme individualism on the ummah, globalization on economic
stability, and modernization on Islam, it would be well to remember the
words of Ataturk Mustafa Kemal: “Surviving in the world of modern
civiliza
tion depends upon changing ourselves.” (2)

This also goes for citizens in other countries around the world and what
type of bridges they are encouraging their governments and leaders to
build.

A Hungarian lawmaker has voiced worry over Israel’s expansionist policies, saying Israel is trying to take over the world.

“I’m
a Hungarian nationalist. I love my homeland, love the Hungarians and
give primacy to Hungarian interests over those of global capital –
Jewish capital, if you like – which wants to devour the entire world,
especially Hungary,” Oszkar Molnar said in a television interview.

Molnar’s comments come as there are reports of a mass Jewish exodus from Israel to Hungary, Haaretz reported.

As
proof of his assertion that Israel is plotting to take over Hungary,
Molnar claimed to have discovered that the language of instruction in
Jerusalem’s ( al-Quds’) schools is Hungarian, and when asked why,
students said they were “learning their future homeland’s language.”

Molnar’s party, Fidesz, has not condemned his remarks saying they “did not violate the party’s bylaws.”

According to the polls, Fidesz party is expected to take power when elections are held this spring.

Muslims are the problem and Islam is the solution

by Mohamed Khodr

“I, strongly, believe that we as Muslims must blame ourselves for our
state of affairs and avoid the usual scapegoating that “powerful
forces” such as Israel, the E.U., and America hinder our progress or
our justified right to reclaim our lands and resources. Our
“intellectuals” have adopted and imitated the Western mantra that
progress can only come if one abandons religion. Rather than Islam
being the problem, Muslims are the problem and Islam is the solution.”

“On the morrow of a persecution in Europe in which they had been the
victims of the worst atrocities ever known… the Jews’ immediate
reaction to their own experience was to become persecutors in their
turn… In 1948, the Jews knew, from personal experience, what they were
doing; and it was their supreme tragedy that the lessons learnt by them
from their encounter with the Nazi German Gentiles should have been not
to eschew but to initiate some of the evil deeds that the Nazis had
committed against the Jews”

— Famed British Historian Professor Arnold Toynbee

*~*~*~*~*

I wholeheartedly agree with Professor Vasillopulos’s
assessment
[1] on the hypocrisy, double standard, and marked subjugation of U.S.
foreign policy vis a vis Palestine to Israel’s interests and its
powerful American lobbies who have unprecedented influence on Congress.
Israel’s very creation arose out of western colonialism, first the
British who had the audacity to gift a land they did not own, a land
under Ottoman rule, to European Jews out of domestic political
expediency, followed by America, a government ruled by corporations and
special interests, in this case the powerful Jewish lobby. Israel’s
ethnic cleansing of 750,000 Palestinians from their land in 1948 –
1949, its total destruction of 450 Palestinian villages, including
mosques and churches, was simply accepted by western colonial powers as
a necessary consequence of an Arab military onslaught on the small
Jewish state, a blatant proven lie as documented by Israel’s own
documents. Tragically Israel’s brilliant propaganda, media campaigns
and effective political public relations to indoctrinate western
population were successful. The Arabs were too incompetent to even
understand the use and power of such instruments. Israel’s prowess to
influence and determine western public opinion has allowed it to defy
all international agreements, laws, U.N. Resolutions, world opinion,
even U.S. policy as evidenced by Obama’s forced backtracking on his
initial call for Israel’s freezing illegal settlements. Obama’s silence
on the Goldstone Report once again shows who runs U.S. foreign policy
in the Middle East.

While Israel can tell the world “No”, the Arabs sadly don’t even know the word exists.

In 1949, President Truman was so outraged (the man responsible for
Israel’s creation) by the mass expulsion of Palestinian refugees he
convened the Lausanne Conference in Switzerland to pressure Israel to
stop its ethnic cleansing and accept UN Resolutions 181 (Partition of
Palestine) and 194 (right of return of Palestinian refugees).

Israel rejected Truman’s proposal while the Arabs accepted it prompting
his envoy Ambassador Mark Etheridge to write Truman: ” Since we gave
Israel birth we are blamed for her belligerence and her arrogance and
for the cold-bloodedness of her attitude toward refugees…Israel must
accept responsibility….her attitude toward refugees is morally
reprehensible….Her position as conqueror demanding more does not make
for peace.”

Since then many U.S. politicians have quietly expressed their anger and
frustration at Israel’s continued Zionist expansionism in the Holy
Land, but none have ever had the courage to stand up to this little
nation while in office that manipulates the most powerful nation on
earth to pay and die for Israel’s wars from Lebanon, to Iraq, Saudi
Arabia, Yemen, the Gulf, Afghanistan, and now the deja vu campaign to
“bomb, bomb, bomb” Iran.

Yet, while we as Arabs and Muslims can reiterate the historical
facts regarding the rogue nation of Israel and its chosen method of
existence that wholly depends on wars, assassinations, terrorism, mass
imprisonment and the wholesale starving siege of Gaza, we should be
honest with ourselves and proclaim that Arab political and economic
incompetence, paralysis, hypocrisy, backbiting, and self sabotage
regarding Palestine is the other side of the coin to decades of
Palestinian suffering. Fifty seven Muslim nations, 1.6 Billion Muslims,
50% of the world’s oil wealth, 60% of its gas wealth, trillions of
dollars of investment in western governments and institutions, are
shamefully paralyzed to face one small nation of 6 million Jews.
Western politics revolves around money, media manipulation, myths,
lies, and propaganda, something Arabs are well accustomed to in their
own nations.

There is no true political, economic, social or media presence for
Arabs and Muslims in America. They are silent, fearful, uneducated and
inexperienced in living and dealing with America’s culture, tend to
herd themselves by ethnic group and fight whether there should be a
barrier between men and women in the mosques, or whether Muslim men and
women can gather for a lecture, yet allow such women to mingle, work,
and go to school with Non-Muslims.

I, strongly, believe that we as Muslims must blame ourselves for our
state of affairs and avoid the usual scapegoating that “powerful
forces” such as Israel, the E.U., and America hinder our progress or
our justified right to reclaim our lands and resources. Our
“intellectuals” have adopted and imitated the Western mantra that
progress can only come if one abandons religion. Rather than Islam
being the problem, Muslims are the problem and Islam is the solution.

That is why as a Muslim I am deeply proud of the Turkish government
and the Turkish people for being the sole Muslim nation to publicly
repudiate Israel on its slaughter in Gaza. While Arab leaders convene
“summits” on Palestine their private agenda is to attack Hamas and
Hezbollah, the only two resistance parties in the entire MidEast
against Israel. The shame and betrayal of Mahmoud Abbas to withdraw
consideration of the Goldstone Report is another hallmark that even
Arabs don’t value Arab blood as long as their chairs are protected.

Muslim wealth is bailing out western economies and not benefiting the
current confused Muslim generation lost between little faith and
overwhelming American cultural influence. Why is our wealth not
building schools, hospitals, roads, better roads, working on finding
precious water, creating manufacturing jobs, building sewage plants,
collecting garbage and using the media to improve our knowledge of
Islam, its morals, and goodly behavior. We build towers, buy luxurious
toys such as planes, cars, and camels, while neglecting the betterment
of human lives. Arab Satellite channels open their programs with
readings from the Quran only to follow up with a music video of barely
dressed women gyrating their bodies to the most obnoxious simplistic
drum beat.

Each of us as Muslims is responsible for learning, implementing, and
protecting our faith. Each of us is responsible for ourselves, our
families, our neighbors, community, nation, and Ummah. Our silent
acceptance of our corrupt till death do we part rulers has led to our
failed societies.

We need a renaissance of intellect, of education, scientific and
analytical and skills, in fact, a rebirth of a highly motivated Ummah
that rejects the status quo and begins the journey to a faith based
enlightenment that can only result in our victory against our own
demoralizing failures and the ultimate victory of salvation in the
hereafter.

I share the pessimism of Muslims around the world that we’re not ripe
for a personal and nationalistic revolution, but what’s the
alternative? Should Muslim blood saturate the earth to replace our
stolen oil before we awaken to our demise?

Either we change, die, or die trying.

Analysis: Turkey gets tough on Israel

ISTANBUL — Turkey’s decision to scrap a military exercise involving
Israel has sparked concerns in Israel about threats to its close
military and economic ties with a key Muslim nation and a NATO member
not always willing to follow the Western line.

The weekend move
by Turkish premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan’s government comes at a time
that the country is seeking to expand its influence in the Mideast and
Europe. It is also the latest reflection of widespread anger —
especially in Muslim countries — over the deaths of hundreds of
Palestinian civilians in last winter’s Gaza conflict.

It could
have broad relevance because of Turkey’s growing regional clout, and
strategic position as a nation of more than 70 million that borders
Iraq and Iran and is embroiled in a sputtering effort to join the
European Union.

“Turkey is trying to reposition itself in the
world,” Carina O’Reilly, Europe analyst for London-based Jane’s Country
Risk, said Monday. “It’s trying to establish itself as a power in its
own right.”

In Turkey, analysts see a complex situation with a
government deeply rooted in Islam trying to balance an emerging role as
a voice for Muslims with a continuing alliance with the West.

Turkey’s
approach to Israel reflects a “double-faced policy” that began when
Erdogan scolded the Israeli president over Gaza casualties at an
international forum in Switzerland, said Huseyin Bagci, professor of
international relations at Middle East Technical University.

“The
Turkish government, since the Davos incident, (tried) to become the
consciousness of the Middle East,” Bagci said. Behind the scenes,
though, ties with Israel are largely “business as usual,” he said.

The
furor began Sunday, when Israeli defense officials said Ankara had
called off the international stage of the Anatolian Eagle drills, which
were to have included the U.S. and NATO, because it opposed Israel’s
participation. The U.S. and NATO have not commented on why the exercise
was scrapped.

Turkey itself insisted the reason it “postponed”
the exercise to have been held this week in the Turkish city of Konya
was not political, saying only that it was the result of talks with
participant countries. It urged Israel to exert “good sense in its
approach and statements.”

However, Foreign Minister Ahmet
Davutoglu linked the exercise’s cancellation to the Gaza war in an
interview with CNN on Sunday. Asked why Israel was excluded, he said:
“We hope that the situation in Gaza will be improved, that the
situation will be back to the diplomatic track. And that will create a
new atmosphere in Turkish-Israeli relations as well.”

Israel’s
good ties with Turkey — a mostly Muslim nation — have been a boost for
Israel over the years, easing its isolation in the region at a time of
tension between the Jewish state and much of the Muslim world. Israeli
tourists flocked to Turkey and Ankara benefited from a strong defense
alliance with Israel’s powerful, high-tech military.

But these
ties — always brittle — have started to fray since Israel’s Gaza war in
January, when the deaths of Palestinian civilians outraged opinion
worldwide. Use of Konya as a location for the exercise was sensitive:
during the war, pro-Islamic media in Turkey published stories alleging
Israeli pilots who bombed Gaza targets had been trained in exercises
there.

Some Israeli commentators have raised concerns that the
cancellation of the exercise is part of a gradual policy that will
shift Turkey closer to fundamentalist Iran. Still, despite Turkey’s
improving relationship with Iran, it covets its ties with the West and,
like its allies, has deep concerns about Iran’s nuclear activities.

In
the background is an increasing skepticism among Turks that their
country, a secular state where tradition is nonetheless strong, will
ever be admitted into the European Union as a full member. Talks have
sputtered for several years and there is persistent opposition in key
EU nations like France and Germany.

In fact, Turkey doesn’t want
to side with any one camp or category, given its complex identity: a
Muslim country with a secular political system, a deeply nationalist
place with a rich imperial history that is still insecure and crafting
its place in the world.

These traits shape its dispute with
Israel, and drive its campaign to become a regional heavyweight with a
web of intricate, overlapping alliances, from NATO to Europe, the
Middle East, the Caucasus and the Balkans. It seeks reconciliation with
Armenia after a century of hostility, and is trying to solve its long
conflict with its own Kurdish citizens.

For decades, Turkey was a
junior player in the West’s Cold War alliance, run by military
generals; now it has its own voice and enough clout to spar at times
with its NATO partners.

Despite harsh rhetoric, Turkish
pragmatism has kept military business with Israel largely intact.
Israel is involved in two major military projects — tank and fighter
plane upgrades — worth more than US$1 billion in Turkey. The Turkish
military has also bought Israeli drones to help fight Kurdish rebels,
whose strength has waned since their heyday in the 1990s.

“Relations
between Israel and Turkey are strategic and decades-old,” said Israeli
Defense Minister Ehud Barak. “Despite the ups and downs, Turkey
continues to be a key player in our region. We shouldn’t be drawn into
frenzied statements about it.”

Alon Liel, who was Israel’s No. 1
diplomat in Turkey in the 1980s, described the situation as a “crisis”
and said Israel had received “very harsh signals” from an increasingly
assertive government.

“Today there is a new foreign policy that
doesn’t rely only on the West. They see themselves as a player in many
regional circles,” he said. “All this assertiveness in the region gives
Turkey a self-confidence that allows it to be tougher to us.”

Nobel Prize is not too early to help Obama

Only
a few months into office, President Obama has won the Nobel Peace
Prize. Even the White House was stunned by the announcement. Two other
sitting presidents have won the prize. But Theodore Roosevelt had to
broker a peace agreement to end a war between Russia and Japan to get
his, and Woodrow Wilson had to create the League of Nations.
Obama
got his for a vision of world peace. But it is a vision that has
captivated the world, even if it has not yet produced the desired
results.
In
bestowing the award, the Nobel committee is saying the United States
again is the leader of the world and Obama holds the bully pulpit. The
award should be a catalyst that motivates other world leaders to help
him.
The
committee also is endorsing the American people, who overcame centuries
of slavery and racism to fulfill the ideals of the Declaration of
Independence to elect the first African-American president. Martin
Luther King won a Nobel Peace Prize for his vision of an end to racial
discrimination. Obama almost sounded like Martin Luther King in his
speeches outlining his foreign agenda. He, too, talked about a dream –
to end terrorism, eliminate nuclear weapons, bring peace to the Middle
East, promote democracy and encourage economic development. He said:
Here’s my dream, I will do my part, but I need your help. The world –
and the Nobel committee – responded to that dream.
From
his first day in office, Obama established an ambitious agenda to bring
affordable health care to all Americans while salvaging the nation’s
financial systems and stimulating the economy.
But
he did not ignore international issues. He has transformed US foreign
policy. He committed the United States to end the proliferation of
nuclear weapons and even to ban them altogether. He pushed from Day One
for a Middle East peace agreement. He reached out to America’s
traditional enemies – to jaw-jaw rather war-war, as Winston Churchill
famously said.
This
has caught the attention of people around the world who had come to
fear unilateral US military action. Obama’s speeches to the Muslim
world in Ankara and Cairo were truly historic. Never before had a US
president spoken directly to the Muslim people in the capital of an
Islamic country.
He
displayed a sensitivity to Islam and its central role in Muslim
countries that no other president had acknowledged. And he shattered
the paradigm of a “Clash of Civilizations” – that Islamic countries and
the West were destined to constant warfare.

People
have asked, where are the results? The Middle East is no closer to
peace. Iran continues to defy the US. The war in Afghanistan is
deteriorating.
It’s
way too early yet. I can tell you from my travels around the Muslim
world in the last few months, even in Iran, I have been told that every
Muslim leader wants to work with President Obama. While they must be
constant to their own policies, they need to show their people that
they want to improve relations with the United States. That’s a major
change.
Even Iran
sent its foreign minister to Washington. Anything that can be done to
resolve the conflict between Iran and the United States would have huge
repercussions in resolving the conflicts from Palestine, through Iraq
and Afghanistan to Pakistan.
The
announcement comes just as Obama must decide what to do about
Afghanistan. The president is not rushing to add more troops. He
recognizes that a large part of General Stanley A. McChrystal’s
strategy calls for engaging the Afghans within their own culture and
religion to win their hearts and minds. Peace in Afghanistan can only
come this way.
The
US government recognizes that even with the combined power of NATO it
cannot resolve all of these conflicts. My hopeful expectation is that
the United States will invite other Muslim leaders, who understand the
underlying cultural issues, to help in resolving these conflicts.
In
choosing Obama for the Nobel Prize, the committee chose hope over
despair. They chose the ideals of the United States over cynicism. And
they chose to support a young, visionary leader at a crucial moment in
world history when so much can be gained or so much can be lost.

New Jewish organ theft gang busted

Muslims.net – New Jewish organ theft gang busted

09/09/2009 01:16:00 PM GMT

New reports have surfaced on the arrest of yet another Jewish organ trading gang in the United States involved in the abduction of Algerian children.

Dr. Mustafa Khayatti, the head of the Algerian National Committee for the Development of Health Research, revealed on Sunday that the New York city police have arrested members of a Jewish gang who abducted Algerian children for their organs.

Khayatti said the arrests came after Interpol found that children in western Algeria were abducted and taken to Morocco to have their kidneys harvested.

Their organs were later trafficked to the United States and Israel and sold for $20,000 to $100,000 each. The group is said to be connected to Israeli rabbi Levi Rosenbaum, who was recently arrested in New Jersey for direct involvement in importing human organs. Following Rosenbaum’s arrest, US authorities detained some 44 others, including rabbis and mayors in New Jersey, who were prosecuted for money laundering and human organs trade. Last month, a report published in the Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet, accused Israeli soldiers of kidnapping Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and the Gaza Strip for their organs, indicating a possible link between the Israeli military and the mafia of human organs detected in the US. Some Arab countries have called for an international inquiry into the allegations.
